If you live in a hot, humid climate you may be be concerned over your cracked, sticky, or melted dash on your Toyota or Lexus. Toyota and Lexus have begun their preliminary coverage for owners looking to have their cracked, sticky or melted dash repaired under a new warranty enhancement campaign for millions of owners. Read on to find out more about the condition.
As part of Lexus warranty enhancement ZLD and Toyota warranty enhancement ZE6, Toyota and Lexus will repair your cracked, sticky or melted dash with a new dash assembly starting later this year. In December 2014 they sent out preliminary notice to owners alerting them of the enhancement, but noted that parts are not yet available to repair every vehicle. At this time Toyota and Lexus are processing claims for owners that have paid for a dash or door panel repair that may be covered under the warranty enhancement. It is expected in March Toyota and Lexus will begin repairing the condition for owners at no charge.

I own a 2008 LS460 manufactured Dec 2007 purchased Feb 2008. Lexus has turned me down even though I have the Identical Melting Defect! How can they selectively choose who to accommodate? Any suggestions? I tried calling the law firm who won the case but they have not returned my call….Lexus tells me they are only repairing 2007 LS460 manufactured before mine…does anyone have the same problem or any suggestions?
Gary,
Sorry to hear you don’t qualify for the repair. As far as I’m aware, Lexus draws the line based on production changes they can track down to the specific VIN. I think your best bet is to bring this to the attention of Lexus Corporate and see what they say – worse case they say no and you’re in the same place, but you might be surprised how nice they are to work with. I’m betting they will expand the warranty if they start seeing more and more pop up, and you could be the evidence they need to do so.
Best of luck!
I was told six months ago they were going to replace my dash and door panels because they melted in my 2006 Lexus IS. I’ve been waiting all this time when they told me they’re going to repair it to sell the vehicle can somebody tell me please when they’re going to do this or even if they’re going to do it just because you say you’re going to do something doesn’t mean they’re going to do it and I’d like to understand why they are not they said they were going to. I’m a little tired of hearing whole next month and then next month and then next they sell defective product I like to understand why they’re not sending buy it. Thanks John Gordon

I own a Lexus 2004 RX 330 and our dashboard is completely cracked and falling apart. We were promised replacement parts would be available in Spring of 2015. Still have not received 2nd notification of repairs. Please tell me that this will be taken care of and approximately “WHEN”???? VIN # JTJGA31U140020579
Richard,
Your best bet would be to contact your local dealership for availability. They might be able to expedite the process for you. Good luck!
John
I called a Lexus parts department today and was told that they were only sending them 1 in each color each week. Apparently Lexus is overwhelmed by the amount of vehicles they are having to repair. She did ask me about my door panels, which I was not aware that there was a problem with those. I was also told I could email pictures and she would show them to the service manager rather than requiring me to come in to just be told that they would replace it.
I have a 2008 Lexus LS 460 in Naples, Florida. Both the driver’s side and passenger’s side arm rest are like GLUE when the car gets warm. I have called Lexus corporate and explained the problem to them–I have yet to hear back. I currently own a 1991 LS400, 2002 LS430 and my LS460. I have also owned several other LS series over the past 14 years and have been a loyal Lexus customer. It will be interesting to see how they handle this issue.
I have a LS 460 2008 and have the same problem of melting door armrest and cracking. I just notified the dealership that I purchased it from.
